About NTMWD

For more than a half-century, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) has been planning and developing new water supplies to meet the needs of our growing customer base -- which is currently more than 1.6 million North Texans.

Right now, NTMWD is pursuing several strategies and projects to make sure our water supply can keep pace with our region’s growing population.

  • Conservation: NTMWD has worked extensively with member cities and individual customers to create the Model Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plans, helping cut consumption and extend current supplies.
  • Development: NTMWD is working to connect with current sources and develop new sources -- such as the proposed Lower Bois d’Arc Creek Reservoir in Fannin County, the Upper Sabine Basin Raw Water Supply and the East Fork Raw Water Supply projects.
